Common questions

Buy 20 feet. Every 20 foot kit in this guide splits into two 10 foot sections, so you can run one short section when the inlet is close and add the second when it is not. Older parks often put the sewer inlet at the back corner of the pad, which eats hose fast. Long-term residents should measure their own pad once and buy to fit, then keep a spare 10 foot section on hand for trips through a dump station.

Most parks allow it and most long-term residents do. Keep the black valve closed between dumps so liquid does not drain off and strand solids in the tank. Run the hose on a support with a continuous downhill slope, and seal the park connection with a donut or threaded adapter, which many parks require. Sunlight is the main killer in permanent duty, so favor the UV-stabilized options here, the Waste Master especially. Thin vinyl left out year-round can start cracking within a single season.

Vinyl is the cheapest and lightest. It is fine in mild weather, but it stiffens in the cold and punctures easily on gravel. Wire-reinforced polyolefin, which Camco's RhinoFLEX made the mid-market standard, holds its bent shape so you can form a slope, and it takes far more abuse. TPE is a rubber-like polymer that springs back after crushing, stays flexible in freezing weather, and resists pinholes best. If you camp in shoulder seasons or park the rig for months at a time, the step up to TPE is worth more than any other single upgrade.

The RV side is standardized, so any kit here twists onto the 3 inch bayonet outlet on your rig. The dump-station side is also covered, since every kit includes an elbow adapter that fits the common inlet sizes. What does not mix is the middle. Camco, Valterra, Thetford, and Lippert each use their own couplers to join hose sections, so extensions need to come from the brand you already own or be joined with a generic coupler sold separately.

Inspect it every few months and retire it at the first pinhole, soft spot, or crack near a fitting. A leak you can see means a spray you cannot. Vinyl hoses in regular use are typically good for a season or two. Polyolefin runs several seasons. TPE hoses routinely last many years, which is why the cheaper hose is often the more expensive one over a full-timer's ownership. Whatever you run, store it capped and out of the sun and it will last far longer.

If you stay anywhere longer than a night, yes. Waste moves by gravity, and a hose lying flat on the ground holds standing waste that ages the hose and smells at disconnect time.
