  The park is quiet, great safe and clean. RESERVATIONS NEEDED! There is a park office but IF you happen to catch the guy here he is very cranky if you don't have a reservation. Text this number to reserve. He even told us he usually won't take walk-ins which is crazy because the park was empty. This is why! The city needs to know this is happening! Very poor for business. It is city operated and had business hours so we called a few different times and did not leave a message as it didn't seem like an individuals number. Finally left a message during business hours but no return still so we dropped in. He did calm down and was nice after his initial response. A great find. Spacious sites(we were in a37' Class A). Beautiful and green around all around us. Neat little nature center and a boardwalk trail. The girls in the nature center were very friendly and informative. Two nice playgrounds in the gate camping area as well. As a viewer mentored, POISON IVY is all over the park though. We have never seen this much in one place before. *I need to address/debunk a previous review. The gun shots that you will hear is from 2 shooting ranges. We heard them but they were not random shots fired so we questioned it in the nature center. Apparently one is a qualifying range for the police department there. This is a city park and some police equipment stored there so we did see a police truck in there twice but not for a bad thing.

  This park is a hidden gem! Not advertised enough. One of the few parks in a "tourist area" still only $28/night. It's very laid back but has amenities. Every site has reliable electric and water and though it is an old park and most sites are kinda unlevel they are easily doable. Best for rigs under 40ft. (I would say only 3 sites would be very accessible for bigger) Management, Jared, is superb. If you want to visit the Lafayette area this is the place to stay. Great nature center and trails with boardwalks. Disc golf and audio adapted trails are highlights! Kudos to this park. Don't let showerhouses scare you. They are a little hike to get to but accessible and clean. Playgrounds and things for families also.

  This was a great little city/county campground and adjacent nature park for hiking. Clean bathrooms. We had a 35' motorhome towing a Jeep. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Water and electric with easy access. Mature trees. Playground for kiddos.

  Price is great $28.00 a night, it has water hook-up and 20amp, 30amp and 50amp at all sites. Jared is the gentleman who helped us, I believe he stays on-site (but not positive). He gave us all the details we needed. On our trip here, we had a flat tire which caused us to arrive way after dark. I contacted him to let me know and asked if he knew of places that could help us with RV tires. He gave us a couple places in the area. They take great care here. It is next to the nature station with lots of hiking available. The sites are pretty level, no real big rigs will fit here though. Ours is a 23' and the site fits it and our truck. There are play grounds on site, bathrooms/showers with a code and the entrance is gated with a code. We would definitely stay here when we are in the area again. Keep in mind, this is a no frills camp ground but amazing hospitality and price.
