  It's been years (a couple decades to be exact) since we've camped. This is a great area that provides plenty of amenities that won't overwhelm the rookie camper that they didn't "bring enough". Campsites were clean and fellow campers were respectful and responsible. Plus the walking trail was really nice. We'll be back

  Camp sites were great. The rv sites were full hook up which was a surprise to find septic at a state park. The pads were very level and accommodating for larger rvs. We stayed at site 035. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. Even during the day there was very little traffic. The bath house was very clean and well maintained. All the rangers were very nice. The road into the park was very easy to traverse with a 34’ camper. Plenty of trails close by. My only complaint would be access to water from the campground.

  Been here a few times and love it! The hosts and rangers are always so nice and helpful. Bathrooms are clean and stocked. Only wish there was another closer to the outer part of the loop. Tent sites are always clean and ready to go when I get there. Roomy sites and some have views of the lake while others are tucked in the woods. Nice little library by the bath house and board with current events and maps. Going back in the fall and hoping to try out a cabin next year.

  If you stay here try the Waterside Bar and Grill restaurant (7774 Hudson Chapel Rd, Catawba, NC 28609) only about 10 minutes away
