RV Parks in Louisiana

Louisiana camps like nowhere else in the country. Cypress and Spanish moss shade the bayous of the Atchafalaya Basin; the Gulf Coast trails off into sand and marsh; and the waterways in between hold more wildlife than most travelers expect to see from a campsite. RV parks thread through all of it: near the historic plantations along the Mississippi River Road, beside the fishing water of Toledo Bend Reservoir, and everywhere the state's appetite for food and music spills into the campground.

South Louisiana is Cajun Country, and it doesn't do subtle. Lafayette and Breaux Bridge run on Acadian tradition, pepper-forward cooking, and dance halls that fill up on weeknights. RV parks here double as launch points for swamp tours and airboat rides, with a festival never far off the calendar. To the east, the Greater New Orleans area offers urban RV camping with the French Quarter, the Garden District, and the city's food and music within reach, most parks run shuttles or sit near public transit, which beats parking a rig downtown.

North Louisiana changes the register entirely: rolling hills, pine forest, and big freshwater lakes in place of coastal marsh. Kisatchie National Forest offers rustic camping under the pines, while the shore of Toledo Bend Reservoir carries a long string of RV resorts built around bass boats and early mornings. The air is drier up here, the pace slower: hiking, fishing, and birdwatching country, and a genuine counterweight to the humid bustle of the southern parishes.
