When to go
The best time for an RV trip is mostly about temperature and crowds, and the two pull in opposite directions. The Sun Belt fills with snowbirds in winter; the mountains and the north come alive in summer. Book peak windows early, and check that your park is open before you arrive.

Sun Belt (South & Southwest)
Arizona, Florida, Texas, and the desert Southwest are winter havens. From November through March the weather is perfect and the parks are full of snowbirds; summer is brutally hot.
Mountain West
High-country parks near the Rockies and Sierra are summer destinations. Many sit at elevation and open only once the snow clears, roughly June through September.
Pacific Coast
The California-to-Washington coast offers a long, mild season. Summer is peak and busy; spring and fall deliver great weather with fewer crowds.
Northeast & Midwest
The northern tier runs a classic summer-into-fall season. July and August are the warm heart of it, and September–October bring spectacular foliage.
