RV Parks in North Carolina

North Carolina hands RVers two coastlines' worth of variety in one state: Blue Ridge peaks on the western end, Outer Banks sand on the eastern. Out west, national forests and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park set the scene, and the RV parks up there tend toward roomy sites with a ridge in the window. The Piedmont fills the middle: Asheville and Charlotte for city days, state parks and lakeside campgrounds in between, plenty of them built to take a large rig on full hookups.

The coast is where a lot of trips end up. Along the Outer Banks and the Crystal Coast, RV parks sit close to the beach, the lighthouses, and towns like Nags Head and Wilmington. The days fill themselves: surf fishing, boat time, long walks looking for shells. Many of the coastal resorts run seasonal rates and put the sand a short walk from your door, which is most of the argument right there.

Cross the state and the ecosystems keep changing under you. The Sandhills in the middle bring golf courses and equestrian trails, with RV-friendly campgrounds worked in among them. The overall inventory runs from wooded state park loops to private resorts with the full amenity sheet, and a good number of parks welcome long-term stays, one reason snowbirds chasing a milder winter keep North Carolina on the list.
