  We had a fantastic stay at Smuggler's Den Campground and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Acadia National Park. The facilities were absolutely spotless and very well maintained. Everything was clean, organized, and made for a comfortable camping experience. The location is excellent, it's the perfect base for exploring Acadia National Park, with easy access to many of the park's best hikes, scenic viewpoints, and attractions. It made getting out early each morning for adventures incredibly convenient. A special thank you to Jonathan, who was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He went out of his way to help us, offered great local advice, and genuinely cared about making sure we had a wonderful trip. His friendly attitude and willingness to assist really made a difference and added a personal touch to our stay. Overall, a fantastic campground with outstanding facilities, an ideal location, and exceptional hospitality. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Acadia!

  We had a great week camping at Smugglers Den. We had 2 tent sites, no water or electric which was what we expected. Sites were large enough for 2 tents and canopies. The store sells fresh lobster and gives you all you need to make the dinner, pot, seasonings,and claw crackers! Bathrooms and showers were clean, huge plus! Heated pool, but we didn’t have time to use it this trip. The island explorer bus comes right to the campground so you could get anywhere in Acadia or Bar Harbor. You may need to transfer to another bus at Hulls Cove but definitely beats trying to park.

  What a perfect place! This is our second stay here and I don’t think I’d bother trying a new campground to check out beautiful Acadia. Wonderful location on the quiet side of Acadia. Close to Echo Lake and great hiking trails and Southwest Harbor. We went over the Fourth of July, and the crowds were manageable because we stayed here. The new bathhouse is gorgeous, and the staff is friendly. Jonathan really made our stay memorable. He checked in often, was super friendly, joked with our kids, and even helped clean up our campsite. What a guy!

  This is such a hidden gem, that frankly I don’t want too many people to know about but this place absolute deserves so much recognition. The location is perfection, it is so close to bar Harbor, Acadia park but on the other side you can also enjoy Ellsworth and Trenton that are a little under 30minutes away. The Island Explorer bus is accessible right at the camp which also allows you to navigate around Acadia without any stress. The service is free, it’s extremely easy to get around and there’s air conditioning!! The best part about the location is the trail to Echo Lake, it’s about a 20 minute walk, trail is very clean. Next, the campground is extremely well kept, good sized lots, very clean washrooms and free showers. Could we be anymore spoiled. Saving the best for last, the incredibly accommodating staff. They were so kind and helpful. They are more than happy to give you any tips on how to get around the area too. It was such a great experience staying at this campground. I definitely recommend it.
