About Delaware

Delaware gets skipped on a lot of RV itineraries because of its size, and that's a mistake. The First State packs Atlantic coastline, historic towns, and quiet natural areas into a footprint you can cross in an afternoon: beach resorts in Sussex County, farm country through Kent County, and the estates of the Brandywine Valley up in New Castle County. Its position on the East Coast makes it an easy add to almost any mid-Atlantic route, for a beach week or a history-heavy detour.

Southern Delaware is where most RVers land, and the beaches explain why: Rehoboth, Bethany, Fenwick Island. Coastal campgrounds put you on the Atlantic or the Delaware Bay for swimming, fishing, and boating. Cape Henlopen and Delaware Seashore state parks deliver the natural version, dunes and long trail systems, while private resorts near Lewes and Dewey Beach trade wilderness for amenities, boardwalk access, restaurants, and the state's tax-free shopping.

Inland, central Delaware revolves around Dover, the state capital, with the Dover International Speedway, a cluster of museums, and the wildlife refuges strung along the Delaware Bay shoreline. RV parks here suit travelers chasing history, birds, or a race weekend. The land flattens into coastal plain and farm fields, and the pace slows with it: small towns, quiet roads, and a rural camping experience well removed from the beach crowds.
